Drama-less Chicken Briyani

                            Chicken Biryani

Hey Shuhnanigans! Hope u awesome butbuts' are as awesome as u always do :D. So....it's Friday 4th October 2013 & it's 10.02pm..ooo that's fast. Well peepz, it's the 3rd last day of my 1 month semester holiday & yeah it's so damn freakin fast. Like seriously, I'm gonna be walkin like the whole day, be the face of a blurry student nurse face to get some serious scowls from senior staff, be the angel who put on a smile on those sick fragile petients & build some whole new experience on the life of a maturing nurse whose gonna hit nurse puberty soon. I mean I'm talkin 6 weeks of amateur attachment before the finale internship which will be 3 whole months. Will I even survive that? Don't even know if I'd be able to celebrate Christmas with the homosapiens who lives & are growin' up with me...family. Yep, I guess they missed the sad, horryfying, hurtful part of growin up to a life size breathing creature that goes to a bumpa rum bampa ride to success. Wait...this is supposed to be about my delish biryani that I cooked up with no freakin experience whatsoever.
So I cooked this piece of magic on Monday, the 3rd week of my 1 month holiday. yep...you might be thinkin why I didn't start at the first day od holiday. Well shuhnanigans, I think after a gruesome final theory examination that squeezed up all my brain juices with last minute revision and juggling spending time with my long MIA lil rascal brother who came home for holidays from India for his 1 month holiday, is the reason behind the addiction of sleeping my life away for the first 2 weeks of holidays. Hey, I think I earned that. Anyways, back to the biryani.
It was Monday & I woke up realising I seriously need a detox & I figured I needed lemons for that & some 'healthy' food...well it's just fruits, some tofu and carrots. So, i headed to the nearest supermarket being Giant of course. It's awesome how I could get about most of the things that I need for my cooking & stuff, except for mascarpone cheese? I found ou that it's only available in Cold Storage, which is like 3 train stations away from home. I thought of tryin out on some Tiramisu cake, but laziness runs in my body like I'm talkin deep here peepz, like in my blood plasma. Well then I just scrolled around the meat section with my grocery basket and I just stoned at some dead chicken packed on the..shelves? or whatever and  I just grabbed a whole chicken packed in some styrofoam & cling film. I didn't have a freakin clue about what the heck I was gonna do about  the damn dead chicken  but I just bought it. Who knew it would end up in a biryani but it did. :)
Headed back home & chucked my chicky into the freezer & started on my detox session. As I was you tubing, I came across some cookin vids & thought maybe I could cook up some 'thing' out of that chicken & had an idea of how to wow my mom who had been like fretting n goin on & on about how I'm jobless & unemployed at home and so I thought there isn't anything that could beat the ol Chicken Biryani. It some guy called Vah Chef 2 Varevah.com. He's weird but funny in a way so I thought y not follow the guy with a funny bone. y not rite? :D
     So here is the recipe:

Ingredients :

1/2 boneless Chicken ( I used the other 1/2 for a chicken 65 :)
1 1/2 cups Basmati Rice ( I used everyday Ponni Rice)
Oil
Cinammon------------------1 1/2 stick
Bay Leaves------------------2
Cloves------------------------5
Cumin Seeds---------------1 tsp
Green Cardamom---------3
Sliced Onions--------------2 medium
Green chillies, slit to half--------------3
Turmeric Powder-------------------------1/4 tsp
Tomatoes, chopped-----------------------2 medium
Ginger Garlic paste---------------------3/4 tbsp
Red Chilli Powder---------------------- 1/2 tbsp
Thick Yoghurt---------------------------1 cup
Onions, sliced & fried-----------------3 medium
Garam Masala Powder---------------1/2 tsp
Ginger, sliced into thin strips-----1 inch
Salt--------------------------to taste
Fresh Mint, torn--------- a few
Fresh Coriander---------a few
Milk-------------------------1/2 cup
Eggs, boiled & sliced--4 eggs

Method :

1. Cut chicken into 1 inch cubesput some turmeric powder &b pop it into the fridge
2. Boil the  Basmati rice mins in water till it's 60% cooked then leave it aside
3. Heat oil on the wok and add in cinammon + bay leaves + cloves + cumin seeds + green cardamoms & saute them for few seconds till the aroma is smelled
4. Add sliced onions & saute them till they start to sweat.
5. Add the slit green chillies & stir well then add the chicken cubes in. Add the turmeric powder in & mix well.
5. Add the choped tomatoes + salt to taste
6. Add the ginger garlic paste + red chilli powder + yoghurt & mix well till every bit of the chicken are well coated & let it simmer for a minute
7. Add in the fried onions & turn off the flame
10. Add the boiled rice into a pot/cooker & add the wok mixture into the cooker giving it a good stir.
11. Sprinkle the garam masala powder + ginger strips + mint leaves + corriander leaves
12. Add the milk & remaining brown onions
13. Cover & cook for about 10 mins

I fried some chicken 65 with the rest of the chicken. I have the recipe but I forgotten to snap a pic of it cuz it was so good that it was finished that very night itself :)
It turned out great but be careful not to over add the yoghurt cuz ya already added some tomatoes in there & it's gonna be too sour if there's too much of it. Owh....to prevent the bottom part of the pot from burning, stir the biryani intermitently while it's cookin'.

Go ahead & give a shot. If I can do it without any 'stove' encounter,  ya can too :) Let me know how it go peepz till then Peace out!
